Georgia schmorgia.
O noes why did I drink!? I feel a warm happiness that will not be helpful for all the reading/essay planning I have to get done tonight! The good news is that it's only quarter past nine. So I have a little time to sober up and then get down to business.

We went to Cooper's for the Scotland game and it was fun except that Scotland lost 0-2. Do you want to see what a pub looks like during a Scotland game? Good. Because here are a couple pictures:

Watching the game was fun, despite the loss. There was a random guy that ran out onto the pitch and he was obviously so drunk/high/both that his facial expression was practically blank. He just waved his hat around and ran. Then the security people came to take him off and his expression didn't change at all... He just kept running with them. It was awesome. Also I love Scottish fans. There are always some guys that just randomly bellow "SCO'LAN'!" when it gets quiet and nothing is happening. And then whenever something good happens everyone goes "EYYYYYYY" in unison. It's very Tim & Mike-esque. See icon. And Cooper's was pretty cool... It was the most "Winchester"-like pub (OMG sorry to be an obsessive Pegg/Frost fan) I've seen yet... Complete with crisps sold behind the bar and video game machines. I think there are probably lots of pubs like that here, but I've been in the weird ones. The 78, my usual hotspot, is quite unique because it is an organic/vegan pub and there are no TVs or anything. They play records on a gramaphone. It's amazing. But not typical.

Of course after Scotland lost, Amy and I ended up going to The 78 to drown our sorrows. We each only had one drink but then Robin showed up and we sat with him for a little bit, and then one of his smoking buddies appeared and we went outside to sit with that guy and his new friend. But then we left.

Oh my! Now it's half nine and I am still writing this! Boo alcohol-inspired slowness.

Amy is so much fun. I wish she would stay here for the weekend more often. She's lucky that she lives close enough to home that she can go there every weekend and take advantage of the internet/mom doing laundry/food, but I selfishly want to hang out with her on weekends. Luckily we finally swapped phone numbers and will probably send each other annoying random texts. I feel like she could become the Joel to my Oliver. Only a few people will understand that analogy.

Sobering up now, time to get to work.

Haaaahahaha life is silly.
After watching so much Black Books these past few days, I started to get really jealous of all the drunken fun Bernard, Manny, and Fran were always having. So when Bri came over last night, I thought it would be fun to drink a lot of Skyy Citrus. Between the two of us, we consumed a whole bottle. And drunken fun we indeed had!

But then I woke up this morning with a really non-awesome headache, and was reminded of all the times Bernard, Manny, and Fran were sitting around with massive hangovers. Oh well. Last night was really random and silly and happy and fun, so I think it was worth it.

I love Bri. I love the Awesome Department. I love Santa Claus. I hate Yessica Kumala.

Now for a day of Latin.

Oh my Jacob...
Gary and I were supposed to go out to lunch today, but I just called him and he is really drunk so apparently now I am going over there for a barbecue? He sounded like an insane person on the phone. I am definitely not going to stay too long... Good thing I have lots of stuff I have to do before my family gets here tonight. That's a good excuse for leaving.

Last night was lovely. Leah came over to watch The Office (which was amazing amazing amazing!) and then Catherine & Val's friend Sachman (spelling?) joined us. We did crazy things and watched Shaun of the Dead and had a generally delightful time. Mike's Hard Lemonades are not only more delicious than Smirnoff Ices, but they also are like symposium drinking cups with messages written inside the bottle that you can't see until you've finished drinking it. Erickson probably loves them.

Ummmmmmm I'm totes not in class right now. Haaaa! I have two classes on Fridays and one was cancelled because we are going to the Getty tomorrow instead... So I didn't go to the other one. Here are all the classes I missed this week:

Latin on Tuesday (slept in)
African Cinema on Tuesday (cancelled)
Light Lab on Thursday (had to finish a midterm paper instead)
Roman Civilization on Friday (diiiitched!)
Greek Sanctuaries on Friday (cancelled)

That's one of each! Very nice. Somehow I still feel exhausted from the week though.

Now to dry my hair so I can get this barbecue thing over with... Haha.

I'm kissin rainbows in the sky...
Gaaah only 30 minutes until I leave for my 3-hour EAP orientation. I'm so nervous! Meeting large amounts of new people makes my tummy churn a little. However, I couldn't be more excited to learn all about how amazing my year is going to be next year. Jesus, I am so lucky to be able to do this. I have to remember to never stop being thankful. If you ever hear me complain about anything that has to do with me studying abroad, you have the permission to slap me in the face.

If I were one of the people running this orientation, I would provide the students with treats from their host countries... Like, um, Jaffa Cakes? [Can you tell how badly I want some more of those delicious, heaven-sent biscuits??? I keep bringing them up. I'm sorry.]

Can I just say that Jason Mraz has the longest fingernails I've ever seen on a dude? It's a little bit of a turn off, I have to say... But he's still my man. And this song is really hilarious.

Guess who will be of legal drinking age in precisely one week? Weeeee!

Do you want anything from the shop? Cornetto.
Awww my Leah just left me. :( Yesterday was SOOOO FANTASTIC. Obvly (that's the new abbrieviation for "obviously" brought into my life by Leah) classes were a little boring because all I could think about was how it was Hot Fuzz day. But then after that I came home and watched Spaced, which eased the pain of waiting.

When Mitzles got out of class, Brittny and I picked her up, and then we went to the theatre to buy Hot Fuzz tickets. Then we got Starbucks and discovered that TANGERINE FRAPPUCCINOS ARE BACK IN SEASON! Those drinks are my bitches and I will drink them every day until they are gone again. [Imagine me making a Brian Topp-like "Mmmm..." now!] In Starbucks was a dude that looked like a younger Locke playing some kind of game (not backgammon) that involved little white and black rocks. I freaked out a little too much. The worst part of my day was when some kind of folk version of "Crazy In Love" came on in Starbucks. Too weird.

So then, after almost I almost got kidnapped by Sleazy Ben outside the theatre, Leah arrived and we all got settled into seats. And the glory began.

It's hard for me to write about perfection, so I can't quite come up with the right words to say about Hot Fuzz. I laughed/smiled the entire time. Even when something tense or scary was happening, I was still smiling because Simon Pegg is so amazing and sexy. I laughed every time Julia Deakin's (a.k.a. Marsha from Spaced) crazy mug showed up on screen just because she is hilarious. My face hurt afterwards, in the really good way. Most of the people in the movie looked familiar to me, which was exciting. It's always cool to see movies chock-full of people you know and trust, because then you don't have to worry about if the acting will be good and you can just enjoy the show. The weirdest thing was when I did some research on the interwebs and found out that the Andy with the smaller moustache was the 17-year-old douchebag guy who worked in the store with Shaun. WHAT? Is it weird that I thought he was sort of attractive in Hot Fuzz? I'm confused. Oh lordy it was all just so good. Am I going to have to see it again very soon? Yarp. Is this a problem? Of course narp! :D

Aaahhh best movie ever.

After the movie, Leah came over to hang out with us and we watched "The Landlord" again because Leah and Starr hadn't seen it. Then I showed everyone the cool blood blister I have on my pinky, which I got when I was pretending to be Pearl and pounding the remote control on the table shouting "BITCH! BITCH! BITCH!" Good times.

Then we watched two amazing episodes of Spaced. It made me crave Jaffa Cakes.

Then Leah and I made plans for dinner, which ended up being so delicious. We went to Vons and got a fresh pineapple, strawberries, granny smith apples, sugar free pudding & cool wHip for dipping, french bread, cheese, pineapple juice, and vodka. They all go deliciously together. We cut up all the fruit and arranged it beautifully on a plate. We warmed up the bread and cut that up too. And then Leah made some delicious drinks that we didn't have a name for, so we dubbed them "Gingernuts." Vodka + pineapple juice + grenadine. Proportions? We have no idea.

The rest of the night was a blaaaaaast. I have a sore back because I hit my lower back/upper bum on the fireplace. I don't know how, but I do know that at the exact same time I hit my nose with the top of a stool, which had been balancing on my feet. And my nose is sore too. Oh well! We danced around and talked and generally enjoyed ourselves. We went to bed really late, so I should be more tired now. But I'm not!

Do you hate it when people talk about dieting and weight? Then I will spare you. )

My family is coming tonight. Yaaaaaay!

I need breakfast.
